Eastern Kentucky Trombone Society


Formed in 2015, the Trombone Society at Eastern Kentucky University is under the direction of Professor of Trombone at EKU, Dr. Nathan Siler, and enjoys an emerging national and regional reputation. The ensemble is comprised of graduate and undergraduate students at EKU and forms the trombone ensemble, as well as chamber groups each semester, with a special emphasis on new music and student compositions. The society has premiered works by David Faleris, Frank Gulino, C.S. Hadley, Aaron Cook, Seichi Samura, Richard Crosby, and Thomas Couvillon, among many others, in addition to consortium commissions by Brad Edwards and Jack Wilds. 
The EKU Trombone Society has performed at the 2021 and 2018 International Trombone Festivals, the 2026 and 2017 American Trombone Workshop, the 2024 and 2021 Kentucky Music Educators Association State Conferences, the 2022 Cincinnati Trombone Summit, and the 2023 North Carolina Trombone Festival. In addition, the ensemble has hosted the Kentucky Commonwealth Trombone Summit numerous times, and an annual EKU Trombone Day on campus each spring. Recent guests which the EKU Trombone Society has hosted include Sam Woodhead, Donna Parkes, Bryan Heath, James Box, Alex van Duuren, Chad Arnow, Samuel Chen, Tim Anderson, Elisabeth Shafer, and George Curran and Megumi Kanda at the 2021 International Trombone Festival.
The ensemble’s debut album, The Road Home: A Kentucky Christmas, was released in 2020 on First Contact Records.
