Blue Ridge Quartet

Blue Ridge Quartet

The Blue Ridge Trombone Quartet was formed in 2012 with the same mission as the
marital saying: “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.”
We bring to light “something old” in the presentation of timeless classics from the
quartet repertoire. We have initiated the creation of several “somethings new” including
several works on today’s program. We feature arrangements, created by the quartet
members, of several “somethings borrowed” from organ works, string quartets, operatic
arias, and even a full orchestra. And as far as “something blue,” well, that’s us – The
Blue Ridge Trombone Quartet! The BRTQ’s members include Dr. Nathan Dishman
(Iowa State University), Dr. Drew Leslie (Colorado State University), Sean McGhee
(Cincinnati-based freelance trombonist and educator), and Dr. Cory Mixdorf (University
of Arkansas). The BRTQ has performed at universities and festivals across the United
States including a performance with The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” at the 2019
American Trombone Workshop and a recent performance at the 2023 International
Trombone Festival.
