SGM Tommy Richard Lee (“Rick”) entered the U.S. Army Band in 1999 after completing his B.M. at the University of Georgia; M.M. and Artist’s Diplomas from Yale University. A frequent performer in New York City, Rick played in numerous Broadway productions. He was chosen as principal horn for the Hofer Symphoniker in Hof, Germany, until his entry into Pershing’s Own. Lee plays horn in the U.S. Army Brass Quintet, giving performances at the White House, the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon and countless other venues throughout the National Capitol Region. The Brass Quintet has performed internationally in Moscow and St. Petersburg with the Russian National Orchestra and their own elite brass quintet and most recently provided musical support for the reopening of the U.S. Embassy in Havana, Cuba. Lee serves as Section Leader for the French horn section of the U.S. Army Ceremonial Band. Lee also performs regularly at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Washington National Cathedral, Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, the National Gallery of Art, and numerous other venues in the greater Washington area. He has performed musicals at the National Theater, Ford’s Theater, Arena Stage, and Signature Theater since his move to Washington. In addition, he frequently joins the Washington Concert Opera, Choral Arts Society of Washington, and countless other regional orchestras.

MSG Kevin Gebo is an international prizewinning trumpeter as well as an active freelancer and soloist in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Gebo received a Bachelor's Degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Michigan, Master's Degree from the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) and a Doctorate degree from The Catholic University of America. Gebo frequently travels as a guest performer and clinician to universities and festivals and has been on faculty at The University of Arkansas, Fort Smith's "Brass Camp", California State University, Fresno's "Trumpet Festival", Grand Valley State University's "Trumpet Seminar", Northern Arizona University's "Curry Summer Music Camp" and Virginia Commonwealth University as Adjunct Professor of Trumpet. His performances have taken him all across the country as well as Canada, Austria, Australia and Germany. He was the principal trumpet on the Naxos recording of William Bolcom's "Songs of Innocence and Experience" which won four Grammy awards in 2006, including "Best Classical Album." Some of Gebo's most memorable experiences have been performing in the Inaugural Parade for President Barack Obama and on several live television and radio broadcasts. In December, 2010, Gebo was invited by Julia Fordham and Paul Reiser to perform as a featured guest on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on their hit single "UnSung Hero".

SFC Gregory Hammond joined The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" in November of 2015. He was born in Lancaster, PA, but grew up in Fairport, NY, where he started playing trombone at the age of 10. Hammond graduated from the Eastman School of Music with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and Trombone Performance, including the Performers Certificate. After spending some time as a substitute music teacher in the Rochester, NY area, he moved to Houston, TX to pursue a master's degree in Trombone Performance at the Shepherd School of music at Rice University. While in Houston, Hammond worked as a teacher and freelance musician including several performances with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. He was also a member of the 2014 Disneyland All American College Band in Anaheim, CA. You can hear Hammond playing bass trombone on Colossus Big Band’s first album “Colossus”. His teachers include Allen Barnhill (Rice), Mark Kellogg and John Marcellus (Eastman School), and Larry Poole.

SFC Andrew Dougherty is a native of Gainesville, Virginia, and joined the tuba section of The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in December of 2020. He previously was a member of the West Point Band, which he joined in November of 2017. He holds a Bachelor of Music from George Mason University, where he studied under Andrew Hitz, and a Master of Music from the University of Maryland, where he studied under David Fedderly. Dougherty formerly played with Brass of the Potomac, the ITEA winning tuba and euphonium quartet, NOVATEQ, and other band, orchestral, and chamber ensembles around the Washington, D.C. area.
As an educator, Dougherty has taught masterclasses at the Bard Conservatory of Music, Eastman School of Music, and at the Tanglewood Institute, while maintaining a private studio of dedicated students. Prior to joining the military music field, he was selected to perform as principal tuba with the Disney All-American College Band of 2014 in Anaheim, California, under the direction of Ron McCurdy. As a student, he won The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” Mock Band Audition, and was selected for the United States Air Force Band’s Collegiate Symposium.

SSG Andrew Boylan holds a Doctor of Music in Trumpet Performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from Ohio University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Centre College. He has performed with orchestras throughout the United States and has been on tour with chamber groups to South Korea, Mexico, and Greece. His teachers include John Rommel, John Schlabach, and Vince DiMartino. When not performing with the B5, Andrew enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and their cat, hiking, and cycling.

An element of The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in Washington, DC, The U.S. Army Brass Quintet has performed at the White House, presidential inaugurations, and official state ceremonies in the Nation’s Capital. They have been selected repeatedly as the first ensemble to honor new presidents with the traditional “Hail to the Chief” on live national broadcasts. The U.S. Army Brass Quintet frequently provides musical support for special events hosted by the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of the Army, and the Army Chief of Staff, as well as for ceremonies supporting the Military District of Washington.
The U.S. Army Brass Quintet has performed on NBC’s “Today Show,” the Food Network’s “Emeril Live,” NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” CBS’s “Sunday Morning,” ABC, Fox, CNN, TNN, and internationally on BBC. The group also appears regularly on local and regional broadcasts throughout the nation.
The group’s repertoire includes over 500 selections from all eras and genres of classical and popular music, interactive entertainment, video, and works for children’s concerts. The Brass Quintet’s library also includes historic musical selections from the American Civil War which the ensemble enjoys performing on authentic instruments.
The U.S. Army Brass Quintet continues a long tradition in support of music education. These Soldiers' outreach activities include frequent appearances at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the International Trumpet Guild Conference, The U.S. Army Band’s annual Tuba-Euphonium Conference, and at high schools, universities, and conservatories throughout the United States and around the world.
