Biography

Neo Yamada was born in Amakusa, Kumamoto, Japan, Neo started playing the tuba at the age of 10. He is currently senior at the Kunitachi College of Music.

Neo has studied tuba with Kazuhiko Sato and Peter Link, and chamber music with Shiro Ide, Akihiko Ikawa, and Kyohei Ando. He has participated in the masterclasses of renowned musicians, including Christopher Olka and Paul Halwax.

Neo is active as a soloist. He has recently won the First Prize at the 40th Leonard Falcone International Tuba and Euphonium Competition, Tuba Artist Division, held in Michigan, U.S.A. And in November 2025 he performed Tuba Concerto by Edward Gregson with the club orchestra of the Kunitachi College of Music.

He is a recipient of the Meiji Yasuda Quality of Life Cultural Foundation Scholarship.
