Biography
SSG Mike Glaze is a percussionist in the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” Ceremonial Band and an active freelance musician and educator in the Washington D.C. area. With more than a decade of performance and education experience, he has held leadership positions with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, the Rome Symphony Orchestra, North Star Percussion Trio, Carolina Crown Drum Corps, Kell High School, Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, and the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program just to name a few. SSG Glaze earned a Doctor of Music in Percussion Performance from Florida State University, a Master of Arts in Percussion Performance from the University of Iowa, and both a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance and a Bachelor of Music Education in Instrumental Music Education also from Florida State University. His primary teachers include Dr. John Parks, Dr. Dan Moore, Lee Beddis, Dr. Brian Tinkel, Dr. William Fredrickson, and Dr. Clifford Madsen. SSG Glaze resides in Northern Virginia with his wonderful wife Jeri, their three amazing sons Sean, Joel, and Fitz, and their beautiful chocolate lab-pit bull mix Betty Frances.
