Biography

SGT Kevin Specht is a tuba and euphonium player with the 257th Army Band of the District of Columbia Army National Guard and previously served with the 126th Army Band in Michigan. He has performed as principal tuba and soloist with the Denver Pops Orchestra and as soloist with the Boulder Concert Band.

Kevin is also an experienced public school band and orchestra teacher, currently teaching elementary band and orchestra in Capitol Heights, Maryland. His teaching experience also includes middle and high school band, marching band, and general music in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Colorado.

Kevin studied tuba with Marty Erickson, Jared Bulmer, and James Hicks. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Tuba Performance and Music Education from Lawrence University and a Master of Music from the American Band College of Central Washington University. He grew up in Palos Hills, Illinois, and attended Amos Alonzo Stagg High School. Kevin performs on a Holton BB-345 and a Besson 983 E♭ tuba.
