Biography

SSG Henry Eichman is a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and joined the percussion section of “Pershing’s Own” Ceremonial Band in November of 2023. Prior to joining The U.S. Army Band, Eichman was Assistant Professor of Percussion at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Eichman has acted as both Principal Percussionist and Timpanist with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the Lyric Opera of the North, Minnesota Ballet, Northern Lights Music Festival, and in various jazz and latin music settings. Outside the concert hall, Eichman was a member of Hersheypark’s energetic “streetmosphere” ensembles The Chocolate Covered Band and The Cocoa Rhythm Factory, and entertained audiences around the east coast with found-sound percussion group, JUNK ROCK. He also performs regularly as a drummer with Catholic singer-songwriter Aly Aleigha at regional worship conferences, concerts, and other events. Eichman holds degrees from West Chester University (BM Music Education & Performance), the University of Minnesota Duluth (MM Performance), and Michigan State University (DMA Performance). His primary teachers include David Knott, Bob Novak, Ralph Sorrentino, Chris Hanning, Marc Jacoby, Gene Koshinski, and Gwendolyn Dease. Eichman resides in northern Virginia with his wife, and their two boys.
