Biography

Franchesca Romero, born in Miami, FL, began her musical journey with classical piano before diving into jazz studies at the New World School of the Arts High School. She went on to earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in jazz piano performance from Michigan State University and Northern Illinois University.
Throughout her career, Franchesca has been involved in several esteemed organizations, including the National YoungArts Foundation, Thelonious Monk National Sextet, Sisters in Jazz, and the University of South Africa International Piano Competition. Her talent has led her to perform both nationally and internationally with jazz icons such as Ron Carter, Ambrose Akinmusire, Michael Dease, Rodney Whitaker, Carl Allen, and Matt Wilson, to name just a few. Before joining The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own," Franchesca was a dedicated educator in South Florida. She served as the Adjunct Professor of Jazz and Contemporary Piano at institutions like the University of Miami Frost School of Music, Broward College, and Miami Arts Charter School. Her most recent musical project is her debut album, “I’m On My Way,” which she released in July of 2024 alongside vocalist, Melinda Rose.
