Biography

Originally from Bangor, Northern Ireland, Staff Sgt. Esther Thompson received her Bachelor of Music in Musical Theater from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark., and a Master of Music degree at the University of Maryland with the Maryland Opera Studio. Some of her favorite roles include the title role in Bizet's Carmen, Siebel in Gonoud’s Faust, Lišak the Fox in Leoš Janácek’s The Cunning Little Vixen, and the title role in G.F. Handel’s Ariodante. Her musical theater credits include Aunt Spiker in James and the Giant Peach: The Musical and Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof. Thompson has performed with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, the Brevard Music Center Orchestra, and the Mississippi Opera Orchestra. She served as the Jazz Band vocalist for all four years of her undergrad. SSG Thompson started her army career with the U.S. Army Field Band as an alto with the Solider’s Chorus in 2022 and joined The U.S. Army Chorus in 2024.
