Biography

Originally from Bangor, Northern Ireland, SSG Esther Thompson received her B.M. in Musical Theater from Ouachita Baptist University and her M.M. at the University of Maryland with the Maryland Opera Studio. Some of her favorite roles include the title role in Carmen, Siebel in Gonoud’s Faust, Lišak the Fox in Leoš Janácek’s The Cunning Little Vixen, and the title role in G.F. Handel’s Ariodante. Her musical theater credits include Aunt Spiker in James and the Giant Peach: The Musical and Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof. SSG Thompson has performed with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, the Brevard Music Center Orchestra, and the Mississippi Opera Orchestra. She served as the Jazz Band vocalist for all four years of her undergrad. SSG Thompson started her army career with the U.S. Army Field Band as an alto with the Solider’s Chorus in 2022 and joined the United States Army Chorus in 2024.
