Biography

Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, Emerson Miller studied music performance at the University of Maryland from 2017 to 2023, receiving both a Bachelor and Master of Music.
During his time at the University of Maryland, he studied with Philip Munds and his Father, Gregory Miller. In 2022 during his first year of his master’s degree, Emerson joined the United
States Army Band “Pershing’s Own.” In 2023, Emerson joined the Pittsburgh Opera as 4th Horn and in 2024, joined Opera Philadelphia as 2nd Horn. Currently residing in Washington, DC,
Emerson has performed on world-class stages, including the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, the Wolf Trap Filene Center, and the Washington National Cathedral. Emerson comes from a
musical family, his grandfather Paul Hilgeman was 2nd Trumpet of the Indianapolis Symphony, his mother Laura Miller is Co-Concertmaster of the Palm Beach Opera and his father Gregory Miller was the Hornist for Empire Brass.
