Donald Palmire

Biography
Dr. Donald Palmire is Teaching Assistant Professor of Euphonium at East Carolina University
and has enjoyed a distinguished career as a soloist, clinician, and educator for more than three
decades. He began his professional performing career in 1980 as a euphoniumist with the United
States Marine Corps Recruit Depot Band at Parris Island, South Carolina, where he was a
regularly featured soloist. He later served with the United States Marine Band “The President’s
Own” (1987–1991) and the Dallas Wind Symphony (1992–1994).
Dr. Palmire holds a Doctor of Music Education degree from Liberty University, a Master of
Music degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts degree
from Luther Rice Seminary. He served with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own”
from 1994 to 2016, performing with both the Ceremonial and Concert Bands. During his tenure,
he held the position of Principal Euphonium in the Concert Band and served as Chairman of the
U.S. Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Workshop.
From 2018 to 2021, Dr. Palmire was Principal Euphonium of the Royal Hawaiian Band. His
performance career includes appearances with the U.S. Army Concert Band, U.S. Army Brass
Band, U.S. Army Orchestra, U.S. Army Brass Quintet, Dominion Brass, Maryland Symphony,
Harrisburg Symphony, Sarasota Orchestra, and numerous regional ensembles. He is an active
recitalist and clinician, having presented masterclasses and performances for national and
international conferences and workshops, including the International Tuba-Euphonium
Conference and regional Tuba-Euphonium Conferences. In 2014, he released his solo debut
double CD, Amber and Musk. Dr. Palmire is an Adams Performing Artist.
