Biography

SSG Alex Abreu joined the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in August 2024. Originally from Highland Park, Illinois, he holds a Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, where he was inducted into national music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda. During his time at Eastman, he performed with OSSIA, a student-run new music organization, and taught private lessons to students of all ages at the Eastman Community Music School. Prior to Eastman, he received his Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory and spent a year working at the school as the program’s Operations & Ensemble Personnel Manager. Abreu has performed with the National Repertory Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Firelands Symphony Orchestra, BlueWater Chamber Orchestra, and the Blue Streak Ensemble. Principal teachers include Michael Wayne, Richard Hawkins, and Barbara Drapcho.
